Kyran Bracken made his Dancing On Ice return this evening, keen to convey some retro 80s style through his brand new routine.
The former rugby star is one of the most competitive contestants in this year’s all star lineup and received a real boost last weekend when he beat Sam Attwater in the duel and avoided elimination and the necessity to skate a second routine.
He threw his all into the vibe and styling of the performance and donned a pretty ridiculous brown wig for the evening. Before performing Bracken tweeted his fans saying:
“My hair tonight….! Bloody Nora!….Sorry about this shock…..”
It’s been a busy week for the star and he admitted:
“Strange day….skating one minute….coaching rugby the next…..life can be different and ever changing….#goodtimes”
He went in tonight with high hopes and during rehearsals Kryan told partner Nina:
“I think this week could be our strongest routine.”
“I am proud as punch to be dong what I do. When the thrill of playing [rugby] is gone, it’s gone forever. The skating has filled that void for me and I love it.”
However, sadly, Kyran made quite a few mistakes at the start of his skate, which seemed to affect him throughout.
A lift went wrong and there were a few other errors, which the judges quickly picked up on.
ASHLEY ROBERTS: You keep coming back and I know how passionate you are. You open up and perform more and I really got engaged in that.
KAREN BARBER: I am frustrated for you and you know why. It was great performance but it could have been a lot better. There were parts that unravelled for me.
JASON GARDINER: Like Samson with his hair, that wig has given you some sort of strength and control. Achieve it you did tonight Kyran. It was lyrical and soft and passionate and romantic. You delivered tonight.
NICKY SLATER: I saw this earlier and thought it could be a 9 or 9.5 but there were a few mistakes that I saw. The lifts are super and the quality was taken away because of that.
