Fans of Dancing On Ice will no doubt recall that in last Sunday night’s show, acerbic judge Jason Gardiner told contestant Luke Campbell that he had an “attitude problem” and not unreasonably, Olympic boxer Luke isn’t happy about it!
Jason made the remark after Christine Bleakley asked Jason who wasn’t doing too well on the show. He added of Luke, “He doesn’t take criticism well.”
A source behind the scenes on the ITV show said, “Jason succeeded in winding Luke up…
“He feels Jason’s got it in for him far more than any of the others. But he isn’t going to let the comments get him down.
“He is a hard worker and he will come out fighting again next Sunday.”
After the show on Sunday – which saw Keith Chegwin leave the contest – Luke took to Twitter to say, “It’s a bit strange when some1 says u have attitude, when all that comes out their mouth is insults. #whyletsome1talkdowntoyou.”
Jason’s fellow judges proffered mixed opinions of Luke’s performance last week, with Karen Barber remarking that there was “something missing” but added that she thought Luke was a “capable” skater.
Judge Ashley Roberts added, “You have made progress over the last couple of weeks and it’s been so good to watch you go out there and have fun…
“But that’s what was missing a bit tonight.”
Jason commented,“It felt to me like you weren’t very connected to the choreography.
“It just didn’t feel like you were present tonight.”
However, The Sun adds, “But he hailed Luke’s spread-eagle lift as one of the best he had seen.”
What do you think? Were Jason’s remarks justified? Or was he just being catty?
Here’s a reminder of Luke’s performance during last weekend’s Team challenge…
