We reported earlier this week that former Corrie star Helen Flanagan had been given exemption from carrying out some of the Bushtucker trials on this year’s I’m A Celebrity amid fears that forcing her to carry out the often horrible challenges would prompt her to have a panic attack.
Helen of course left Coronation Street last year after it was revealed that she was suffering from depression and had had a number of debilitating panic attacks on the set of the show.
However, in an interview with the Daily Mirror before she went into the Australian jungle yesterday, Helen said that she’s going to do her best to take part in as many trials as possible.
She began by telling the paper, “It will be good for people to see the real me…
“After being in a show like Coronation Street for 12 years, people think they know me, but they don’t.
“I am a determined girl so I’ll give any bushtucker trial a go but I am ¬terrified of heights.
“If I knew the whole nation was watching, I wouldn’t want to look like a coward.
“Would I eat a kangaroos anus? I’ll give it a go. That would be a bad trial but not the worst.
“Jumping out of a plane would be the worst.”
We will of course get to see what horrors Helen and her campmates have to endure when the show kicks off tomorrow night, but as we reported earlier, five of the jungle newbies were stranded on what’s described as an “inhospitable island” last night as part of the contestants’ first challenge.
As yet, we don’t know if Helen was on the ‘stranded’ team, but we’ll keep you posted when/if we do find out. For now, here’s a reminder of her in Corrie where, as Rosie Webster, she enjoyed an altogether more comfortable trip away from home than she’ll experience on I’m A Celeb…
