Helen Flanagan has admitted that she has suffered from depression and can be a very ‘intense’ person off screen.
The former Coronation Street star has revealed that growing up in the public eye has proved very damaging to her personally and revealed that the main reason she had to leave Corrie earlier this year is because of the psychological stress and pressure she was under.
Best known as Rosie Webster the brunette beauty told Reveal magazine:
“I’ve suffered from depression. It was the main reason I had to leave Coronation Street. I was down and it was very intense. I don’t think I was very well.”
“I really struggled. My head was in such a state that I wanted to run away, without thinking where I’d go or how I’d get there. I felt trapped. I wasn’t just work. I felt overwhelmed in general.”
Flangan was spotted arriving in Brisbane airport this week and is one of the stars rumoured to be heading into the I’m A Celebrity jungle.
The show kicks off on ITV1 on Sunday night, though the stars will start making their way into camp and commencing their first challenges on Friday.
Helen is worried that her panic attacks will flare up while she’s sleeping in the great outdoors. They were a common occurrence back in her Corrie days and she confessed:
“I struggled with very down days, especially back then. That’s when I started having the panic attacks. I found it so embarrassing and saw as a weakness. They totally crippled my confidence. I think I’m a little bit bipolar. I’m an emotional, intense person.”
Some of Helen’s friends and family members are said to be worried that she will push herself over the edge on the reality TV show this month….time will tell.
Joining Helen in the junge will be Linda Robson, Eric Bristow, Charlie Brooks and some minor celebrities from reality TV shows such as TOWIE and Made In Chelsea,
