In last night’s I’m A Celebrity, we viewers saw Joey Essex and Amy Willerton added to the list of former campers as they were rather shockingly voted off the show…
So now they’ve joined their fellow former campmates in the luxury Versace hotel to await the outcome of this year’s series, and it seems most of the evicted campers – and the viewing public – reckon Westlife star Kian Egan is now sure to be crowned King of the Jungle.
But in the meantime, it’s been revealed today that Olympic swimming champ Rebecca Adlington has admitted that an anxiety disorder prevented her from taking part in so many of the show’s Bushtucker trials.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Rebecca explained, “I have an anxiety disorder specific to confined underground spaces, and I’ve had panic attacks in the past.
“I disclosed that in my medical before I went into the jungle. We were never aware in advance what the trials were. It was up to the doctors to exempt people.
“It really was no big deal.”
Well, maybe not, but what was a big deal was the supposed romance between Amy and Joey…
And while I personally still see no sign of any chemistry between them, while appearing on ITV2 spin-off show, Get Me Out of Here Now, Amy revealed she plans to go out with Joey when they return to the UK.
She said, “I’ve never been to Essex. We’re going out in Essex when we get back!”
Talk though inevitably turned to the bullying debacle in camp, and the concealer-gate incident.
Of that, Amy told Ant and Dec, “It was silly.”
She was more expansive however when it came to discussing the hoohar caused in the first few days in camp after Lucy Pargeter caused some outrage by asking model Amy, “Don’t you ever feel like a piece of meat?”
The conversation ended when Rebecca rushed off in tears, saying that Amy had “no idea what it’s like” to be less than physical perfection.
Of that, the Mirror reports that Amy remarked, “I wanted to tell her, ‘Becky, I think every woman in her life has not felt beautiful.’
“I just wanted to give the girls an insight into the fact when I was at school, I had acne, I had braces, I had glasses, I know exactly what it feels like.
“I just think everybody needs to be kind to each other. The most important thing is in life is being a good person, it’s not about what you look like.
“Becky is such an amazing girl and the things she has achieved I will never ever accomplish.”
Were you surprised that Amy and Joey were voted off?
Here’s a reminder of their time on the show…
