Adam Lambert & Carrie Underwood ‘in talks’ to judge on American Idol reboot

Adam Lambert and Carrie Underwood are reportedly both in talks to become judges on the upcoming American Idol reboot.

According to a new report by Variety, both Adam and Carrie have been approached to sit on the judging panel when Idol returns to our screens in 2018 and may even already be in preliminary talks.

“Carrie Underwood has held talks with ABC and producers about joining American Idol as a judge,” the site reported this week of the possibility of the country star heading back to the show she won in 2005.

The outlet is also claiming that Lambert too has a good chance of appearing on the reboot, alleging that Adam’s name “has been in the mix for a potential role.”

As we previously reported, both would make great judges if they decided to return.

Lambert did a pretty amazing job sitting in for Keith Urban during the audition rounds back in 2015 and has since coached on The X Factor Australia, while Underwood has gone on to sell millions of records around the world and would certainly have a whole lot of wisdom to impart.

Neither Underwood nor Lambert have commented on the rumours, though there’s been a whole lot of speculation over the past few days – none of which has yet been confirmed by producers.

Us Weekly claimed yesterday that former contestant Chris Daughtry has supposedly accepted a role as a judge when the show jumps from Fox to ABC and claimed that “they wanted a panel of all ex contestants.”

“Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson were all on their wish list,” the insider added, though Hudson and Clarkson both recently accepted coaching roles on Idol’s rival The Voice.

Another name thrown into the mix is Katy Perry, as TMZ claimed that she really wants the role and that negotiations with her are “nearly done.”

The site then went on to allege that ABC could make an announcement about the upcoming American Idol reboot judging panel as early as today at their big upfronts session, which means we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled for any past contestants roaming around.

I also want to see Adam Lambert as a judge. Not only is he a great singer with amazing technical ability, but he has a great personality and experience as a judge and contestant. OBTW..the person he mentored on X Factor Australia WON!
