Sam Attwater was elated to escape the skate off on last week’s Dancing On Ice show and tonight, as he contemplated his first solo routine of the series, he was keen to continue with the high scores and judges’ praise on the ITV show.
The former Eastenders actor tweeted his fans about his excitement over his routines this morning, writing:
“Morning all, it’s @dancingonice day!! All very exciting! Got 2 gr8 routines. Can’t wait 4 the show with @vickyogden1”
After winning such a positive response last weekend Sam was desperate to keep going with the improving skills and he told his fiancé Vicky Ogden:
“I want a ten and it’s not out of reach at all, we can do it. I am going to give everything I possibly can to be better.”
Before performing his solo routine he added:
“The only person between me and `a ten is myself, so I am going to go out there and do everything I can do.”
It’s the first time we’ve seen the former champion this series without his partner but we honestly couldn’t say he was any weaker alone.
His skating was clean and the moves were defined. The routine was packed full of tricks, spins and jumps and unlike Hayley Tamaddon there were no wobbles and no falls.
It was all very moody, soulful and engaging and the judges clearly liked it too as they awarded him a massive 36.5.
Ashley Roberts: Sam you started off giving me the sultry feeling. I was there and present all the time. I can see how passionate you are and how badly you want to be here.
Karen Barber: You are on a roll. We are seeing the Sam we always knew was there. Well done.
Robin Cousins: You owned the space tonight. You had great intensity and energy. It all came together and that wad dynamic.
Jason Gardiner: You are coming into the quarter final and you are pulling it all together. You are improving, which is great to see. I loved that you came out here and skated very well but you performed better on your own than I have ever seen before. It was a good, solid performance.
