Dancing On Ice 2013: Jason Gardiner is coming back to keep things frosty!

by Anna Howell

Hoorah, this could actually be the best news we have heard all year, Jason Gardiner is in talks to return to the panel of ITV’s skating reality talent show, Dancing On Ice, the Sun newspaper reports!

Gardiner, notorious for his sharp tongue and nasty critique’s, was one of the show’s original judges when it launched in 2006, but was sacked in 2011 before the last series having been deemed to rude for the show.

He was replaced by fellow dance choreographer, Pineapple Studio’s Louie Spence at the start of this year, who joined fellow judges head judge and British Olympic figure skating champion, Robin Cousins and German Olympic figure skating skater, Katerina Witt, as part of a show shale up to boost figures.

Fans of the show instantly missed the opinionated ‘Mr Frosty’, who revealed a hair transplant during his last series of the show, and it would seem that producers have listened to the voice of the people as they are reportedly trying to get him back for the new series starting in January!

According to the publication Gardiner is being lined up to join both Cousins and Spence for the new series, and show producers are reportedly looking for another female star to replace Witt, who viewers did not seem to warm to, despite her vast experience, increasing the panel to four judges.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Jason is coming back and is excited. He’s missed being on the show.

“But his return will not necessarily mean that Louie gets the shove. He and Jason are great pals and have very different approaches to judging.”

During his 5 year stint on the show Gardiner repeatedly caused controversy, once famously describing swimmer Sharon Davies as looking like a ‘faecal matter that won’t flush’ during one of her routines. He also had a much publicised rift with fellow judge Karen Barber, who is dating show host Christopher Dean, and was even accused of bullying her after she left the panel and became head coach, telling her during one live argument: “If your opinion still mattered, you’d be on the panel.”

A spokesperson for Dancing On Ice told MailOnline: “We will announce our line up and judging panel for the new series of Dancing on Ice in due course.”
