It seems that Simon’s trademark sarcastic remarks and put downs got on Dannii Minogue’s wick so much at Wednesday’s X Factor auditions that she balled him out and moved seats at the judges table so as to be as far away from him as possible.
The Daily Mirror reports that it all began when Simon repeatedly interrupted Dannii as she tried to comment on the acts. She put up with it initially but later, during a break in filming, she told him to “stop undermining” her and, in a temper, she moved to the end of the table rather than sitting at Simon’s side.
A source told the paper, “Simon was in an impatient mood and kept interrupting Dannii with really sarcastic remarks when she tried to give her opinion on the acts.
“She tried to keep calm but it all became too much and she turned on him during one of the breaks…
“Dannii isn’t afraid to stick up for herself, especially after all the abuse she has received at the hands of Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh, so she basically told Simon to lay off.
“She wanted to make it clear that she is not prepared to tolerate any kind of sniping, even from the boss.
“She was also getting frustrated as she couldn’t hear the singing properly and irritation levels were running high. She wasn’t in the best of moods by the end.”
Another show insider said, “It seemed the producers thought it was a good idea to put some distance between them. It hasn’t yet been decided if it’s a permanent change.”
However, an X Factor spokeswoman told the paper, “It’s not uncommon for judges to swap places during the filming.”
And Dannii’s own spokesman reponded that “she had already moved seats before the row.”
The Mirror also states that, “the new format with a live audience is slowing down filming considerably.”
