Geordie Shore Series 7: Sophie’s younger cousin Marnie joins cast – Is she Charlotte’s replacement?

by Anna Howell

With rumours still rife that Charlotte Letitia Crosby has left Geordie Shore to take part in this year’s Celebrity Big Brother, MTV have now announced that a new girl has been cast in the next series of the show – original cast member, Sophie’s, younger cousin, Marnie Simpson!

However, the network was quick not to let people link between the new signing and the future of Charlotte, by adding in a line on its official statement asking how she will feel about Gaz and Scotty T competing over the new lass about town, saying:

“Marnie’s arrival is a big surprise to the gang, who get a total shock when she enters the house. And it isn’t long before buck squad members Gaz and Scott are making a play for her attention.

“But which Geordie lad will Marnie fall for and how will Vicky, Charlotte, Sophie and Holly react to having a new lass around?”

And let’s not forget they have still yet to cast a replacement for Ricci, who left in series 5, so perhaps this is all just a rather big coincidence?

But, whilst we won’t know that till the start of the next series (of Geordie Shore or CBB) what we do know is that Marnie Simpson is 20 years old and comes from South Shields, is a former Miss Newcastle runner-up and will be joining forces with her cousin, Sophie, when the seventh series of the show premiers on Tuesday 17th September!

Marnie, who is a self-confessed fan of the show (who isn’t?) said of her casting on the official MTV website:

“I love going out in Newcastle with all me (sic) friends, so I thought why not do it on the telly?

“I think the girls will find it hard not to like me, but I know they will think I’m prettier than them. I don’t give in to guys easily, so the boys will have a chase on their hands.”

She went on to exclusively admit to the site that she was nervous about living in the house, and how the rest of the gang would feel about her being there, but having her big cousin there would certainly help!

However, after meeting them all she revealed that the crew are “exactly how they are on TV. There was no surprises.”

As well as revealing that she had warmed to the boys more than the girls at first, adding:

“I’m going to stir things up a little bit more.”

The current series of Geordie Shore continues tonight at 10pm on MTV, with the seventh series due to kick off at the same time on Tuesday 17th of September at 10pm.
