I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here 2013: Grace Jones for the jungle?

by Anna Howell

After her “mesmerizing” Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert performance, Grace Jones has been tipped as the first celebrity to sign up for this years I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!

Let’s face it, the only reason the performance was memorable was because she managed to keep a hula-hoop circulating around her wrist size waist (whilst we all screamed at the TV “drop it, drop it”), which successfully averted all attention from her ridiculously frightening eyes and facial expressions!

So, we can’t help but wonder how she will cope in the jungle without the luxury of over the top make up and costumes (and the hula-hoop of course), but none the less we may all get a chance to see if rumours turn out to be true.

According to the Sun Newspaper, after the concert, which attracted a whopping 17million viewers for the BBC, ITV wasted no time in offering the eccentric (to put it as politely as possible) star a staggering £250,000, to be set back  into the wild this winter on the popular reality show.

You can see the attraction, why watch Nigel Havers having a public-school-boy style tantrum when you can watch someone like Grace Jones having psychotic episodes every day, and if her previous form is anything to go by, we are in for a real treat.

Back in the 80’s, Grace shocked the nation when a tantrum on live TV resulted in her slapping a chat show host, Russell Harty – and that was after only half an hour in a studio, imagine what weeks in the jungle with Ant & Dec would do to the fragile wee thing!

A show source told the paper: “We’ve wanted Grace for years as she is perfect for I’m A Celebrity.

“We all watched her incredible performance at the Jubilee gig and it reminded us just how brilliant she is.

“She’d power through those Bushtucker trials like nobody’s business — or just throw a diva strop. The prospect of Ant and Dec getting to grips with her antics every night would be TV gold.”

“We’ve got the chequebook out and are in talks.

“Our only proviso would be that she has to bring that hula hoop into the jungle as her luxury item.”

The James Bond singer, who has been in the busines for the past 40 years, is the first name to belinked with this years series of I’m A Celebrity, which is due to be aired in competition with BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing when the two shows go head to head in November.
