Up next to tackle the Giant Slalom is Sir Steve Redgrave. Redgrave won five gold medals in consecutive olympic games and the only British olympian to do so, but will that give him a competitive edge over the rest of the celebrities this evening? It could all get a tad tense…

In his VT, Sir Steve Redgrave said: “Athletes are very competitive and you cannot bring the competitive side out of them”. On paper, he is a real contender as he has skied a lot and he has skied fast. He is one of the greets olympians Britain has ever had and it’s a bonus that he loves Winter Sports.

He joked that he doesn’t bounce as well as he used to. It was revealed that Steve is the only celebrity in training to not take a tumble, the the only thing holding him back is the fact that he isn’t quite as flexible as the rest of the celebrities taking part. He may be the most competitive guy on the show, so it’s not a choice to lose.

Speaking to Davina before we saw his course, he said: “I skied for a very long time, but flexibly was my big thing. It’s very different trying to bed around corners. I just don’t want to be in the bottom two”.

In his skiing time trial, he was very impressive and was well up on Marcus’ time who was at the top of the leaderboard, in fact he was almost three seconds up. He got to the bottom of the course in record time and is clearly at the top of the leaderboard. But, he did clip one of the gates on the way down – looks like he wasn’t quite flexible as it would have cost him some time.

The split time was amazing, but in total he managed to complete the course in 39.30 seconds putting him in first place.
