Nick Grimshaw blasts ‘homophobic’ One Direction & Louis Tomlinson fans – Will Eleanor Calder wade in again?

Nick Grimshaw is not a happy bunny this evening it would appear.

The Radio 1 DJ has taken to Twitter to ask One Direction fans to stop bombarding him with hate and death threats, after it was reported that he slated Louis Tomlinson on his show this morning.

The DJ was chatting on air on Tuesday 25th February and later in the day some 1D supporters claimed that he had branded the 1D star as ‘annoying.’

One fan tweeted:

“Grimmy made a list of 15 people more annoying than Lorde, and Louis was on the list.”

The star was then subjected to hours of hate filled messages and repeated tweets telling to ‘die’ and to kill himself and he responded to the detractors earlier tweeting:

Strictly Come Dancing axed? 5 shows that could / should follow! X Factor, TOWIE, Geordie Shore

“hey 1D fans!!!!! i never mentioned the word “Louis” on my show today so enough with the charming homophobic death threats yeh? 💤💤💤”

Nick is of course close friends with some of the One Direction boys, Harry Styles in particular, and there was a period last year when he and the Little Things singer were practically inseparable and were always hitting the clubs together.

However Grimmers and Tommo have a more chequered past and in October of last year they had a bit of a Twitter spat.

Louis kicked off on his Twitter page about photographers who were hounding him during the Australian leg of the 1D tour. He lashed out at the paps, branding them ‘tw*ts’ and Nick later mocked him on his show, laughing:

“I love a complainy popstar. It’s my favourite thing.”

Tommo later tweeted the star, suggesting that his predecessor Chris Moyles was a better DJ and even his girlfriend Eleanor Calder waded into the row.

Zayn Malik later added fuel to the fire when he told Harry’s pal to mind his ‘own business.’

Now all we want to do is hit iPlayer, listen to Nick’s full show and find out if he did slate Louis again this morning. If he did then we’ll just sit back and weight for El, Zayn and the One Direction fandom to leap to his defence once again.

However, since no one seems to have found a clip and put it online, we can only assume that this time Nick is in the clear and let’s face it even if he wasn’t, aren’t death threats a little bit much?

Louis has more to worry about than silly insults and Twitter wars though, as he has spent today training for his charity football match. The star will soon take to the pitch and take his place in Doncaster Rovers’ team for the first time and this afternoon he was spotted in full kit practicing with the squad.

Now come on people the 1D lads are grown up now and quite capable of fighting their own corner, and death threats are silly and beyond the call of fans who are genuine. Grow up and be REAL fans, and let them fight their own battles .

Homophobia and Death Threats are NEVER okay but the fact that HIS show staff consistently insults Louis is why so many 1D fans hate him. Fans can let them know they don’t approve of their bullying of Louis by (1) DON’T LISTEN TO THE SHOW! and (2) DON’T FOLLOW GRIMMY ON TWITTER! Or send in complaints. But there is no need to bully Grimmy in return, and the homophobia and death threats are disgusting. Grimmy has horrible ratings for his show so he pulls any stunt he can to get ratings. That’s why he is always mentioning Harry Styles and insulting Louis, to get attention.

If anyone were to actually listen to Grimmy’s radio show and not just go off of ridiculous 1D fan rumors they would no that he generally does not talk about the band unless they are already a topic of conversation in the media. He is on air for almost 18 hours a week and Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson are definitely minimally mentioned. They are a part of the music industry of which it is Nicks job to speak about. They aren’t spoken about to increase rating they are spoken about because they are a part of pop culture…

This morning his producer listed Louis as a person more annoying than Lorde not Nick. Even so it was a harmless joke that I’m more than positive Louis can handle. To be honest he is annoying especially if you are trying to interview him.

You just can’t resist an opportunity to mention Eleanor’s name even though she has NOTHING to do with this story

It was a harmless poll about people “more annoying than Lorde”, do you see fans of Lorde threatening the entire Radio 1 breakfast staff?
1D fans need to grow up & realise that not everyone will always say lovely things about the boys, that’s a fact! And that has never justified sending vile tweets & e-mails to anyone. Those messages are probably much viler than anything said on the show itself, those fans are the ones lowering the tone.
Ignore those things, change the channel/radio… that’s your most powerful tool & more mature.

Nick should’ve added his name to the list, he is super annoying. I will admit NOBODY should send homophobic death threats to anyone, Nick could’ve easily avoided this by asking/telling the breakfast crew to stop talking about Louis bit no he never does it. Now he just wants publicity over this.

Lisa I see your back to your same old ways Eleanor, Eleanor Eleanor, come on if they are a real couple I feel sorry for the both of them…NO CHEMISTY WHATSOEVER!!!!
