Over The Rainbow: Sheila Hancock won’t poke fun at contestants

Sheila Hancock has assured viewers that she won’t be poking fun at contestants X Factor style, when she takes up her judging role on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Over The Rainbow.’

The show premieres on BBC One this Saturday night and will search for a Dorothy and a Toto for a West End production of The Wizard Of Oz.

Veteran actress Sheila Hancock will be judging the singers alongside Charlotte Church and John Partridge but insists that they will be much more interested in finding talent than in making fools of people.

She told The Radio Times: “It isn’t making fun of people. On The X Factor, they deliberately have people on that are awful just to laugh at them. That certainly doesn’t happen here. The judging is very intense. We fight like mad,”
