Jenny Douglas sings ‘Warwick Avenue’ by Duffy
Jenny gave an effortless vocal tonight and I thought the track suited her voice surprisingly well. She also portrayed the emotion of the song brilliantly and looked perfectly gutted by the end of the song.
Emilie Fleming sings ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ by Cyndi Lauper
Emilie’s vocal always sounds so strained and her acting abilities are a bit over the top if you ask me. Tonight she managed to take quite a fun tune and turn it into a chessy mess of awfulness. There is a reason why the judges didn’t chose Emilie for their final 10…..she’s nowhere near good enough for this show!
John Partridge: Jenny I feel like I’m losing you a little bit. It was a great vocal performance but you’ve got to push the acting. Emilie you gave ti some welly and attack and it was a bit better.
Charlotte Church: Jenny you did a good job of that song because its quite rangy and you got every single big note. But it was quite self contained and small. Emilie a few control issues but you’ve got the voice most similar to Judy Garland so I’d love to hear you singing Over The Rainbow.
Sheila Hancock: Jenny you are so good at perky numbers but this is an anguished song and you didn’t get it. Emilie this is a horrible tough profession, you have got to take criticism and survive it!
Andrew Lloyd Webber: Emilie I know you cried last week and this is a very tough profession, if you haven’t got the inner strength to do it then this isn’t the place to be. Jenny I wanted to be tear jerked but they weren’t as jerked as they should have been. Duffy cried all the way through her video….well done girls but I think both of you could do better.
