So, it appears that Simon Cowell isn’t content with his television & music tycoon as he wants to move into the film industry.
You have to hand it to him, Simon Cowell is very ambitious, more so because he wants to take on legendary film producer, Harvey Weinstein! Now, Simon may have had success with his Syco record label, along with shows such as The X Factor, but is the film industry really his forte?
Well, Cowell seems to think so as he has his eye on an Oscar! Cowell has been invited to Elton John’s annual bash over the years, but has never been in attendance at the actual ceremony, and Simon reckons it’s time for all that to change.
Weinstein recently worked with Cowell on the Paul Potts biopic, One Chance, which grossed over $5 million at the box office.
Since Simon now has a taste of the film industry with the production credit to his name, he’s now ready to move onto bigger and better things.
Speaking to The Sun, Weinstein said that Cowell is “very focused and determined about making more movies” so he welcomes Cowell to take him one, along with everyone else.
He went on to say that nobody would say Cowell wouldn’t succeed as there’d be someone out there to back him on his ventures. He added that Cowell was very interesting to work with on the bopic as he was involved in every step of the process.
“I think he’ll be a great success. He’s very shrewd and absolutely brilliant with talent – he makes them feel relaxed and secure. He’s on a mission to be an Oscar contender,” he added.
Speaking in the past about his ambitions in life, Cowell has admitted that he would love to collect an Oscar for a movie he’s produced or helped to write, so he hopes that it will happen one day.
However, the One Chance biopic isn’t the only big-screen project Cowell has tried his hand at as he was dry involved in One Direction’s ‘This Is Us’ movie.
He has numerous TV awards to his name, along with some very successful artists signed to his label, but it’s all about moving onwards and upward for Cowell.
