Oh, we do love it when things come together and although a certain Mr Simon Cowell may have a hard exterior, he’s a little softy inside and he’s over the moon with his new baby boy.
A source close to both Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman has said that Simon’s first words to his new son when he arrived were “I’ve waited all my life for you” – oh pass us the tissues!
The 54-year-old welcomed his first child on Valentines Day (February 14) with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman, 36. Cowell is said to be overjoyed and over the moon with the arrival and I think he’ll soon change his mind about wanting to change those shitty nappies.
Silverman gave birth in the same New York maternity ward that Beyonce Knowles gave birth in 2 years ago, when she and Jay Z had their first child, Blue Ivy Carter.
A source close to the situation said that there were tears of joy all around as it was such an emotional and special moment for everyone involved when the baby arrived.
“There were happy tears shed by everyone, including Simon. Eric is absolutely amazing and they’re all so delighted. He’s very handsome and Simon and Lauren are completely besotted. Simon was at Lauren’s side the entire time and he told her it was the best day of his life,” the source said, according to The Sun.
Naturally, Cowell was a little nervous on the day, but he took it in his stride and if the photos that have been released are anything to go by, Cowell is loving being a father already, despite a couple of sleepless nights already.
Following on from the birth of baby Eric, Cowell tweeted: “Very happy to say Eric was born at 17:45pm. Healthy and handsome. Lauren in great shape”.
Simon named his son Eric after his father who passed away in 1991. His middle name, Philip is after Cowell’s close friend and Topshop boss Sir Philip Green, according to the British newspaper.
As if that wasn’t cute enough, Cowell tweeted a few pictures out earlier today.
One picture, which saw Lauren Silverman, himself and baby Eric in the picture, Cowell wrote: “Mum Dad and Eric. Now two days old”.
Captioning another, he added: “I never knew how much love and pride I would feel”
We’re so happy for Simon and Lauren. Do you reckon Simon will be a good daddy? Let us know in the comments below…
