X Factor star Andrea Faustini – who made it to the final of last year’s series – has confirmed that he’s signed a recording contract with RCA Records, after what has been described as a “bidding war” for the singer’s debut album.
On Twitter, Andrea wrote, “rca-records.co.uk YEAH! It happened! Words can’t describe my happiness in announcing I’ve signed to @RCARecords”
However, by signing with RCA, did Andrea shun X Factor boss Simon Cowell’s label Syco, or were they not part of the bidding war?
Well, while reporting on Andrea signing to RCA, the Daily Star didn’t comment upon Syco specifically, but of course, Ben Haenow – who won X Factor 2014 – and Fleur East both signed to Syco within days of the final…
That said, Andrea was apparently in discussions with “labels within Sony”, and of course, Syco is one of those.
An X Factor source told the newspaper, “Andrea signed a deal with RCA after weeks of discussions with various labels within Sony.
“Label bosses are confident he can be an international star…”
And of what we can expect from Andrea’s debut album, the insider added, “There may be one or two covers, but the album will be predominately original material.
“Some songs have already been submitted for him which are big, epic power ballads.”
Well, they are what Andrea does best for sure, but as he proved during his time on X Factor last year, there’s really not a whole lot he can’t sing…
Nonetheless though, despite starting the series last year as a favourite to win, by the time the final was in sight, some X Factor fans were dubbing Andrea a one-trick-pony in that it seemed he was really predominantly a power ballads sort of a singer.
Mind you, not that there’s anything wrong with that and we have no doubt that Andrea’s going to do a brilliant job on his first album.
Are you excited to hear it?
