Britney Spears is once again showing us her chops by belting it out, and the latest results of her live vocals are pretty stunning.
The star, who’s become famed for lip-synching during her live shows over the years, left the playback at home on Saturday night (August 19) to serve us some serious vocals.
During a performance as part of her “Piece of Me” residency shows in Las Vegas, Britney broke from tradition to grab a hand mic and performing a pretty great rendition of Bonnie Rate’s 1991 hit “Something to Talk About.”
“I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately, right, okay?” the star told the crowd before launching into the performance.
“This morning, I woke up and I was like listening to the news and there’s a lot of things going on in the world and stuff, but basically, I looked and I was like, ‘You know what, the press and the media, my whole life, you know, it’s really crazy because one minute, they tear you down and it was really horrible and the next minute, you’re on top of the world, you know.”
“I’ve never really spoke about it,” she continued, “and I’m a Southern girl, I’m from Louisiana, I’m from the South. “I have to keep it real so I just want to make sure I keep having you mother***kers something to talk about, okay?”
She then stunned the crowd by performing the song 100% live which pretty much sent concertgoers and fans on social media into total meltdown mode.
“OH. MY. GOD. I live for Britney’s live vocals! Please continue doing this @britneyspears. Sounds awesome!” @JakobZwolle tweeted after seeing the clip.
“Britney f**king Spears is singing COMPLETELY LIVE and she sounds INCREDIBLE,” @GodneyIsBritney added. “IM CRYING OMG.”
This is the second time in recent weeks that the mum has 2 has sung completely live on stage as she previously sang “Happy Birthday” to a member of her tour crew on stage a few weeks ago.
We know, we know, it shouldn’t be a big thing when an artist actually sings live on stage (we get it, y’all) but this one is just too good to miss.
