Ed Sheeran announces new single is coming THIS Friday!

Ed Sheeran - Official Albums Chart Number 1

We’re only one day into 2017 and it’s already getting off to a smashing start. If the year continues like this then it’s going to be a pretty decent year.

Earlier this afternoon, loveable Ginger Ed Sheeran took to his Twitter account to announce that he will be releasing a brand new single this coming Friday. Yes, seriously… Ed waited until the first day of the New Year to surprise us with a pretty major announcement. (If that wasn’t enough, we reported earlier today that Leslie Jordan has confirmed Will & Grace is making a comeback as well).

In the simple, yet sweet announcement, Ed posted a video to his Twitter account in which he lifts up a piece of paper that reads: “New music coming Friday!!”. He captioned the video: “Hello 2017…”

It goes without saying that Ed has been missed from the music scene and we’re feeling pretty deprived when it comes to new music. Although, Ed did say he was going to take a long break…

It was December 2015 when Ed originally announced that he was set to take a break from social media. He made the announcement via Instagram, in which he wrote at the time: “Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while. I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed”.

Ed kind of made a bit of a ‘comeback’ last month when it was announced that the Matt Terry’s X Factor Winner’s Single ‘When Christmas Comes Around’ had actually been written by Ed. It’s a great song as well, so it makes us even more excited to see what is to come from him.

Originally we thought that Ed would have been back around the autumn of 2016, but good things come to those who wait…

Are you looking forward to new music from Ed? Let us know in the comments, below…
