Ed Sheeran to make HUGE record-breaking comeback on Official Charts with new singles

by Nick Barnes

On Friday morning, Ed Sheeran made a pretty big comeback to the music scene by dropping two brand new singles at the same time. He said he has been away for a while now, so he treated us to two new songs from his forthcoming third studio album.

It turns out that the British public was very much ready for Ed Sheeran to make his long-awaited comeback as both singles look set to dominate the top of the charts this coming Friday. We’re still one day away from the Official Midweeks being released, but Ed has made that much of an impact over the past 48 hours, an early update has been issued today.

Ed Sheeran - Castle On The Hill

The Official Charts Company has today reported that Shape Of You and Case On The Hill have instantly taken the lead in the race to the top spot this coming Friday. At present, Shape Of You is leading the way at Number 1 with a massive 83,000 chart sales after just 48 hours. Castle On The Hill is slightly behind in second place, but both tracks are performing strongly across streaming platforms and in downloads. Both have outstripped the rest of the Top 10 combined at this stage.

If both tracks remain at the top of the chart on Friday’s final chart placings, then Ed Sheeran could set a brand new Official Chart record, becoming the first artist to enter the Official Singles Chart at Number 1 and Number 2 with two brand new singles.

The fill midweek Official Singles and Albums Chart will be released tomorrow afternoon. To hear the latest update, tune into BBC Radio 1 from 5:30pm where Greg James will be counting down the placings.
