Love Productions, the production company behind the much-loved Great British Bake Off has revealed that it is very happy with the line-up for the new series of the show.
Last year it was confirmed that Love Productions had sold the rights to the Great British Bake Off to Channel 4 as they were the highest bidder – essentially pulling the show from under the BBC’s feet despite being a fantastic host for the show over the years.
But it appears that some of the changes may have backfired big time. The announcement that the show was moving to Channel 4 was rocky enough as it was, but earlier this week it was confirmed that Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig are set to become the new presenters of the show. They’re basically the new Mel & Sue. When the announcement was made there was a major backlash online from fans of the show stating that Noel especially is not right for the format.
However, Love Productions has now spoken out about the choices to deny any disputes between themselves and Channel 4, adding that they enjoy a “great creative relationship”. They’ve also added that they are “thrilled” with the line-up.
The production company said that they “chose Noel and Sandi as hosts of GGBO in full collaboration with Channel 4” and they “are all thrilled to have secured such a terrific team”.
“The notion of any dispute between Love and Channel 4 is nonsense and totally untrue. We enjoy a great creative relationship,” the production company added.
So there you have it – Channel 4 and Love Productions are working in great harmony with one another, and they’re properly thrilled with the line-up. It almost sounds like Noel and Sandi were the first choices all along…
