While One Direction are on their well deserved but frankly frickin annoying year-long break – there’s talk it could even run into two years, and that long without daily 1D input is bordering on inhumane – there’s obviously not a great deal of news about them floating about…
That said, it’s not a totally barren wasteland newswise right now, because we’ve heard a lot about Louis Tomlinson of late, what with the birth of his son Freddie and the speculation that he’s replacing Nick Grimshaw on this year’s X Factor.
Likewise, Liam Payne has been making headlines with rumours about his burgeoning romance with X Factor cougar Cheryl Fernandez-Versini…
However, Harry Styles and Niall Horan have been flying very much under the radar for weeks. But that’s all changed at the moment thanks to the news that Niall has created a Snapchat account.
It’s created quite a stir online as his fans clamour to see what he’s been up to with his new account, but those who weren’t around when he created it are hoping they haven’t missed him taking part in any kind of live chat.
For instance, @The1DHotSeat tweeted, “Niall, you a**hole, couldn’t you wait until I got home to do this kind of s***? lmfao –C.”
The One Direction update account also added this gif, which is one of the most laugh out loud ones we’ve seen for ages…

In other One Direction news, as we reported earlier, we would guess that Harry, Niall, Liam and Louis are all facing a wee bit of a dilemma today; namely, whether or not to congratulate Zayn Malik on the release of his debut solo album Mind of Mine.
Mind of Mine landed today, and already, it’s at No1 on iTunes in at least 70 countries, but of course, if the 1D lads were to congratulate him in public – on Twitter for example – then it could be seen as offering an olive branch which they might not actually want to offer…
On the other hand, if they don’t congratulate him, it looks like a deliberate snub.
What would you do if you were one of Zayn’s ex band mates?
