For Harry Styles, 2016 was a hugely busy year. Because though One Direction were on their so-called ‘break’, instead of spending the time sitting back and having a rest, he used pretty much every minute to lay the foundations for what comes next…
He reportedly signed a three-album deal, and while (again reportedly) negotiating roles in various movies, he filmed his acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s wartime epic, Dunkirk. That lands in cinemas around the world in the summer.
But back to his solo albums, and as well as writing on his own, Harry Styles also worked with some of the top names in the industry, including Snow Patrol’s Johhny McDaid, Kodaline and Meghan Trainor to name but a few…
And while all of that was going on, Harry proved himself a more than capable model. And as his sense of style has developed, he has become seriously hot property in the world of fashion too.
So is there anything Harry Styles can’t do?
Well, in short, it would seem not. So that saying about world and oysters is never truer than when uttered about Harry.
And certainly there are many who are convinced that Harry used the break from One Direction in 2016 to very much distance himself from the band in terms of its sound and its image in order to emerge in 2017 his own person….
Which entirely makes sense of course, because while we have no doubt that Harry would be the first to express his gratitude for the start that X Factor and One Direction gave him, we believe that in the long-term, One Direction will prove to have been only the chrysalis from which the butterfly that Harry Styles will become, starting this year, will emerge.
And as Inquistr reports today, “One Direction’s Harry Styles is the man to watch” in 2017, with the site’s article adding that Harry is “among the most popular and influential musicians right now.”
But where does that leave the prospect of a One Direction reunion?
Well, let’s say that Harry Styles did indeed spend a big portion of 2016 actively moving away from 1D in order to reinvent himself, then surely to then return to One Direction would be a retrograde step and one that would render the effort of backing off for a whole year pointless?
Therefore, we can’t see that he’s going to do it.
What do you think?
