J.K. Rowling, Ed Sheeran, David Walliams named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List

The names in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List have been confirmed, and a whole host of names from the entertainment industry are being recognised.

Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande, and Sandie Shaw will take away MBEs from the music industry, whilst J.K. Rowling has been given the prestigious Order of the Companion of Honour, which only has 65 members. Rowling has been awarded the Order of the Companion of Honour for her work in literature and philanthropy.

Other names set to be honoured include the likes of David Walliams who has been awarded with an OBE, along with actresses Sarah Lancashire, and Patricia Hodge. Andy Murray’s mum, Judy Murray will also take away an OBE.

Scottish comedian, Billy Connolly is also set to become a Sir. He has said that he is “pleased and a little embarrassed” to become a Knight for the Services to Entertainment and Charity.

Furthermore, PC Keith Palmer, the police officer who was murdered in the Westminster terrorist attack in March, will be honoured with a posthumous bravery award. He will be honoured with the George Medal, which recognises that he saved lives.
