Liam Payne is admitting that he’s not exactly the biggest fan of Harry Styles solo music… nor is Harry loving Liam’s solo stuff.
Payne made the admission in a new interview where he danced around the subject a little when asked what he really thinks of Styles’ stuff following the release of his self-titled debut solo album last week.
“Harry’s song I heard and I’ll be honest it’s not my sort of music, it’s not something I’d listen to, but I think he did a great job in doing what he wanted to do,” Liam said when asked for his true feelings on songs like “Sign of the Times.” “That’s the way I’d put it best I think.” Ouch.
Liam then continued by admitting that he doesn’t think Harry is the biggest fan of his solo music, either.
“I think the funny thing is, he would say the same thing about me,” the former One Direction star said. “He doesn’t really listen to hip-hop music, whereas it’s like my song’s more [Tyga’s] ‘Rack City’ and his song is more of a different era to something I’d listen to, I guess.”
So we’re guessing Harry and Liam probably won’t be sharing tips in the studio anytime soon?
Payne’s admission comes shortly after Niall revealed that the One Direction boys are all actually pretty open about their solo music with each other, revealing that they have a group chat where they discuss music.
“There’s a bit of an email chain going on,” Niall told Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1 of how he stays in contact with Liam, Harry and Louis Tomlinson, but admitted that they haven’t made schedules to work around each other’s releases which is probably why we’ve suddenly had an influx of One Direction solo music.
“We don’t try to work it around each other,” he said. “If it falls, it falls – it’s happened before.”
