When One Direction embarked on their controversial ‘hiatus’, it was thought that Louis Tomlinson was to focus on finding and mentoring new musical talent rather than concentrating on his own singing career.
So as news about Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne all going solo surfaced, nobody was overly surprised that there was no mention of Louis getting a new record deal…
However, according to The Sun today, Louis has in fact been planning to release solo material.
An anonymous source is quoted as saying, “Louis is a brilliant songwriter and had not initially planned his own solo career.
“But he’s been back in the studio and has been working on some really amazing music.
“He’s played some to the powers that be at Syco, who are really excited.”
And no doubt the fact that Louis Tomlinson took his new material to Simon Cowell’s label has gone down well with the X Factor boss, particularly given that none of Louis’ band mates did likewise!
Of that, the insider remarked, “They [Syco bosses] think he could be a real success as a solo artist, given his proven ability to write hit records and massive fanbase as part of 1D.”
Are you surprised that Louis Tomlinson is going solo?
We certainly are, because he’s so busy right now, we would have thought he has more than enough on his plate…
After all, he spends a huge amount of time jetting to and fro to the States in order to be with his young son Freddie while also juggling his UK work commitments.
Furthermore, it’s been widely reported that Louis will play the role of Jamie Vardy in an upcoming film about the footballer’s life…
In addition, as mentioned above, Louis has been concentrating on getting his own record label – which is affiliated to Syco – up and running as well as his own production company.
So obviously, with all of that going on, it does rather beg the question of how Louis could find time to reunite with his One Direction band mates…
However, as we reported yesterday, Niall Horan has again insisted that One Direction will reunite. But sadly, he still hasn’t given 1D fans even a ballpark date to look forward to.
But what do you think? Are the One Direction lads just too busy with their own individual careers now to ever reform as a group?
