This time last week, the 2015 Oscars were set to take place, and little did we know how the results were going to swing.
Eddie Redmayne was arguably one of the biggest winners of the evening, along with the Birdman movie, and following the ceremony they dominated social media, and the media in general.
According to a new infographic released by MediaMetric, Birdman, which won the ‘Best Picture’ award was mentioned 4,080 times prior to the ceremony, but after its big win, the movie saw a boost with a massive 9,393 mentions.
Furthermore, Eddie Redmayne went on to win the award for ‘Best Actor’ for his portrayal of Steven Hawkings in ‘The Theory of Everything’. We have seen the movie, and we have to say he did an absolutely fantastic job in the role, and it was a very much deserved statuette. In the lead-up to the Oscars, Eddie received 1,969 mentions in the media, but following the ceremony, the mentions absolutely blew up with over 5,092 mentions. It goes without saying that the Oscars is one of the biggest nights in the entertainment industry, and each and every year the best actors turn out to see how they have fared over the past 12 months, and to see if they can pick up one of the coveted statuettes.
This year’s ceremony also featured performances from the likes of Rita Ora and John Legend. Not only that, Lady Gaga gave a spectacular performance featuring a melody of songs from The Sound of Music, and Twitter blew up with nothing but praise for the star and how fantastic her voice is.
Onto the next one…
