Coronation Street: Kym Marsh dreading Steve & Michelle’s breakup, but new romances ahead?

by Lynn Rowlands

On Coronation Street, justice has to be seen to be done and secrets have to come out. So the truth about Steve and Leanne’s one-night stand and the resulting baby is a cat that’s just about to explode out of its bag onto our ITV screens.

And nobody is going to be hit harder by the reveal than Steve’s wife Michelle, who is of course currently mired in grief having just lost her baby boy, Ruairi.

To make matters worse on that front, Michelle has felt isolated and alone in her bereavement as it’s seemed to her that Steve hasn’t been as deeply affected by the death of their son as she has been…

So no doubt when she finds out that Leanne is expecting Steve’s baby, Michelle is going to come to the conclusion – wrong though it is, albeit understandable in her shoes – that Steve’s grief wasn’t as deeply wounding as hers because he knew he had another child on the way.

And furthermore, when Michelle does find out about Leanne and Steve’s baby, she will also learn that her mother-in-law Liz has known about it for months, which will of course feel like a further betrayal.

Little wonder then that Michelle will be left filled with anger and resentment, and not only will she demand a divorce from Steve, she will also tell him that she’s going to take him for every penny he has. And she means it.

The Sun quotes a Coronation Street insider as saying, “Michelle finally discovers the extent of Steve’s betrayal…

“She goes totally berserk and declares war on Steve.

“She tells him she’s going to be taking half of everything the couple own, including the pub.”

Meanwhile though, Kym Marsh, who of course plays the role of Michelle, has told the Daily Star that she’s dreading the divorce plotlines.

She explained, “I love [working with] Simon Gregson… I would be devastated if we were to break up and never be put back together.

“[But] we all know how soaps are and you’ve got to ride that journey out, haven’t you?

“How forgiving do you think she would be? Not very.”

Kym concluded, “We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”

But of course, we’ve seen Michelle and Robert becoming increasingly close of late, so when Michelle finds out about Steve and Leanne, perhaps she’ll turn to Robert once more and this time, maybe things will go further?

And similarly, as we reported earlier, Ben Price has quit his role as Nick Tilsley, so evidently Leanne is going to be left holding the baby at the same time that Steve finds himself very suddenly single…

New Coronation Street romances mayhap?
