Coronation Street Spoilers: What REALLY happened to Ken Barlow’s ex? Is Daniel’s mum DEAD?

by Lynn Rowlands

In the first of the week’s visits to Coronation Street on Monday 5th December, when Adam casts admiring glances at Maria, Tracy warns him that she’s a bunny boiler, adding that he should steer clear.

Meanwhile, a stressed Daniel admits that he’s behind with his rent and that as a result, his landlord is kicking him out. Later, having insisted they’ll help him move his things, Ken and Peter are shocked at the state of Daniel’s flat. But what is Daniel hiding?

In the second episode, Peter quizzes Daniel again, still convinced he’s been lying about Denise. However, though Daniel insists he was telling the truth when he said that she left six years ago, he reveals that he lied about keeping in touch with her and adds that he hasn’t heard from her in years…

Peter’s perplexed and wonders why Daniel has never reported Denise’s disappearance to the police. But when he says that, Daniel’s defensive.

We’re back on Coronation Street on Wednesday 7th December to see Peter suggesting they keep Denise’s disappearance a secret from Ken, saying it would only distress him if he knew…

However, Peter puts pressure on Daniel to report it to the police, and sure enough, with Peter’s support, Daniel reports Denise as a missing person.

Meanwhile, Leanne, Nick and Simon are ready to leave for Simon’s counselling session, but there’s no sign of Peter. Later, an irate Leanne catches up with Peter and demands to know why he failed to show up. Peter apologises to her, but unbeknownst to them, a jealous Nick watches their exchange intently.

Next, on Thursday 8th December, when Leanne tells Nick that Toyah’s invited them to Liverpool for Christmas, Nick happily agrees to go and is secretly pleased that Peter will be disappointed…

However, while feeling guilty for taking his son away at Christmas, Leanne offers to take Peter shopping for Simon’s present, much to Nick’s annoyance.

Later, with their shopping all done, Leanne and Peter find the car has been clamped in the car park. So while waiting for it to be released, they chat and listen to the radio. And when a Bros song comes on, Leanne admits having had a childhood obsession with the duo…

As talk turns to their own history, Peter and Leanne have clearly put the bad times behind them. But could it be there’s something more there than just nostalgia between them?

There’s another double-bill of Coronation Street on Friday 9th December, and in the first episode, on seeing Nick’s paranoia, Robert urges him to confront Peter to warn him off Leanne.

Meanwhile, Leanne and Peter arrange to throw an early Christmas Day celebration so that Peter can see Simon open his presents. But later on, Nick visits No.1 and tells Peter to stay away from Leanne.

In the second trip to the cobbles, Nick accuses Peter of “sniffing round” Leanne, which amuses Peter. But when Nick calls him a “jobless alcoholic” and mocks him for dossing at his dad’s, Peter’s clearly stung…

While quietly fuming, Peter puts together a plan to prove Nick wrong, but he knows it will ruffle a few feathers.
