All Rise as there will soon be a new bad boy on the scene in Albert Square.
One-quarter of boy-band Blue, Lee Ryan, will join the cast of Eastenders in upcoming scenes, set for a Spring air-date.
Taking on the role of ‘Woody’ Woodward, the singer is set to stir up trouble in Walford although his reasons for heading to the Square have yet to be revealed.
Although his stint in the long-running soap will only be short, he will bring a lot of drama – and no doubt get hearts racing among the girls of Albert Square.
Speaking of his new role, Lee admitted he was “excited” to join the BBC soap and admitted that the character of Woody would be the “best role” to play.
He said: “He’s a brilliant character, and it’s clear he’s been leading a full and colourful life. I can’t wait for people to see what he’s like for themselves.
“Everyone at EastEnders has been so welcoming. I know some of the cast already so I’m sure we’re going to have a lot of fun,” he added.
The soap’s Executive Producer Sean O’Connor discussed Woody’s arrival, teasing the character.
Executive Producer Sean O’Connor added that he was “delighted to welcome Lee Ryan to Walford as ‘Woody.’
He said: “Woody is a man who has worked hard and played hard in bars, clubs and pubs around the world and has finally decided to stop wandering and put down some roots. He’s going to ruffle some feathers and obviously break some hearts, so there’s a great deal to look forward to as soon as he bursts onto the square.
“Lee is a perfect casting for Albert Square and we knew straight away we wanted him for the role,” he added.
Newly engaged Blue bandmate Simon Webbe was quick to express his delight on Twitter.
