Shane Richie is describing the EastEnders spinoff Redwater as a “highbrow drama.”
Ahead of tonight’s (May 18) big premiere, Shane – who plays lovable rogue Alfie Moon – dished on what fans can expect in a new interview with Metro and even revealed that you won’t even have to be an EastEnders fan to enjoy the drama of the new spinoff.
“I think it’s a highbrow drama, and if you love Kat and Alfie – or if you’ve never seen Kat and Alfie – you’re still gonna love it,” the actor revealed of the show which has been a long time coming for the actors.
Jessie Wallace – who plays Kat – also confirmed that non-EastEnders fans will be able to enjoy the new BBC show, calling the new spinoff set in Ireland a “great new drama.”
“It’s taking these two loved, well-known characters out of the Square and putting them into this beautiful scenery, so green and lush,” she told the outlet of Redwater. “It’s just so beautiful to watch.”
As fans will likely already know, the new spinoff follows the much-loved EastEnders characters Kat and Alfie Moon as they make the move to the town of Redwater in Ireland.
The duo left the soap in 2016 after their characters hit the jackpot and won the lottery, after which is what revealed that Alfie had a brain tumour.
Alfie didn’t reveal his potentially life threating illness to Kat, which means there could be a whole lot of drama ready to play out on the new show.
