Strictly Come Dancing 2016: Will Young

Len Goodman is talking about THAT Strictly Come Dancing clash with Will Young and revealing whether or not his harsh words on the latest series of the show had anything to do with the former Pop Idol winner’s decision to quit the show.

Goodman spoke out about the widely speculated drama surrounding himself and Will in a new interview with The Sun, where he dished on rumours that his harsh criticism was the reason Young quit the show earlier this year.

According to the Strictly head judge, he found it “unfortunate” that Will decided to quit the show after he infamously told him to “shut up” on the Saturday show, but claimed that his pretty harsh words were not the reason Young waved bye bye to the ballroom.

“It was unfortunate that he went the week I said to him he has to ‘turn up, keep up and shut up’ but it wasn’t said in a vicious way,” Goodman claimed of the Strictly Come Dancing drama, but clarified that he had been told that Will’s decision to quit was for other reasons.

“I did ask other people if it was because of that he packed it in,” Len told The Sun of Will Young’s decision to quit, but claimed that he has “been assured it wasn’t.”

Exactly why Will quit the show is still unknown, though Young did claim in a statement back in October that he was leaving for “personal reasons” that he did not disclose.

“I leave with joy in my heart that I have been able to take part in one of the most loved shows on British television,” Young said in a statement issued to the BBC at the time, adding that he was “so grateful to everyone who works on Strictly,” but did not offer up any other explanations for his departure.
