Louis Smith and Denise Van Outen were the clear winner son tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing final, in terms of judges scores at least.

The pair went up against Dani Harmer and Kimberley Walsh in the penultimate show of the series and won rave reviews as well as high scores from the judges after their show dance and the judges’ favourite routine of the series to date.

Louis and his professional partner Flavia Cacace won a perfect score of 40 for their second performance of the night and Len Goodman said it was the most magical show dance he has ever seen on the BBC show. Afterwards Smith gushed:

“I’m so happy we have got 40. We’ve had the perfect final.”

He had previously scored an impressive 39 for his salsa.

Denise and her partner James Jordan out on quite the dance spectacle when they performed a show dance for the audience and Darcey got to praising the amazing lifts and telling the pair they could take their act ‘around the world.’ The pair got a score of perfect 40 from the panel also.

“If this is the last dance we do then I couldn’t ask it a better one,” Denise said afterwards.

Dani Harmer had been tipped as the dark horse of the show but if her routines tonight were anything to go by, the bookies had it wrong.

She finished at the bottom of the leaderboard after a few slip ups and tumbles and the judges gave her only 35 points for her tango, with Bruno saying it wasn’t as ‘smooth’ as they had become used to from the pint sized pair.

“That didn’t quite go to plan. I can’t speak, I don’t want it to be our last dance,” she admitted.

Kimberley was impressive though, but she failed to match the perfect scores of Louis and Denise. She received 39 points from the panel for her Viennese Waltz and Showdance. After their final routine, Walsh declared:

“”We definitely shook it, I even screamed during the dance!”

However, the judges scores don’t have the same significance as they have in weeks gone by as during the final the result will be decided by public vote and nothing more.

The act with the least support will be revealed in tonight’s results show and will leave in fourth place, while the other three dancers will go on to perform one last time.

They will take on their favourite dance of the series when the show returns at 8:50 this evening.
