As part of this evening’s glitzy finale, the judges chose one dance for Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her partner Brendan Cole to perform. The judges chose the Viennese Waltz to My Favourite Things by Julie Andrews.
Sophie says she let herself go last week as she didn’t come all this way to shy away. “To say I’m proud of Sophie is an understatement,” Brendan said. She also thinks it’s “really cool” that there’s an all-girl final. “You were spinning like magic,” Bruno told her, but all she has to work on is the top line. “This could be your perfect dance, but there’s a few things you have to change and this could be explosive,” Craig added.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror earlier this week, Sophie said that she was going to go flat out this week to make sure that her finale dance is perfect… but will it be enough to ensure she’s in the final three later this evening?
- Craig Revel Horwood: “I think your posture let you down ever so slightly. I have to say, you move as one and that is so amazing to see”.
- Darcey Bussell: “What’s wonderful is that you capture the style and character of the performance straight away. So much better, I mean a pleasure to watch”.
- Len Goodman: “It was all there, wonderful rotation, reverse turns, the pivots and the whimsical feel to the whole dance. Last time I had an issue with the upper body and now that’s sorted”.
- Bruno Tonioli: “Oh, the ease of movement was gorgeous. Those rotations of spins, you can spin my head girl. You capture the style so well. You’re always stylistically right on the money”.
Both Sophie & Brendan received a combined score of 39 with a 9 from Craig, a 10 from Darcey, a 10 from Len and a 10 from Bruno.
Strictly Come Dancing continues this evening at 8:40pm with the all important result. Who will win this series?
