Strictly Come Dancing 2012: Is it all over for Denise Van Outen as she’s “the least popular” this week?

by Lynn Rowlands

Despite having had an amazing run on Strictly Come Dancing, former favourite Denise Van Outen is apparently in danger of leaving the show before the final.

According to the Star on Sunday, Denise is “the least popular act” following both last weekend and last night’s performances.

The paper states, “Last weekend she received fewer public votes than any of the other dancers.

“Denise, 38, has received 4% of the total votes and is averaging less than 7%.”

However, Olympic gymnast Louis Smith has received around 30% of the public votes and has averaged around 24% of the votes…

The scoring system on SCD of course involves a leaderboard which sees viewers’ votes added to judges’ scores.

The two acts who score lowest go into the dance-off on Sunday nights.

A show source said, “Denise is the latest in a long line of bookies’ favourites who perform well on screen but just aren’t connecting with the public.

“Maybe they resent her West End experience and have got behind some of the underdogs -instead.

“In an Olympic year you would expect Louis to do well but viewers may be surprised he is topping the vote most weeks.

“If he keeps it up, the winner’s glitterball is as good as his.”

The insider added, “It’s all to play for to see who makes the final.”

Who’s your favourite to win, and who’s going to go tonight?

For now, here’s a reminder of Denise’s performance last night…
