Strictly Come Dancing 2012: Kristina Rihanoff wants romance backstage so she’ll be pleased to hear Sid Owen has a new girlfriend!

Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Kristina Rihanoff has revealed that she’d love to see some of this year’s celebrity contestants indulging in a spot of romance, even though of course many of them are already in relationships.

So she’ll perhaps be pleased to hear that former EastEnders star Sid Owen has in fact recently begun a relationship with model Laura Garner. More on that in a moment…

But first, as to what Kristina had to say, she told the Daily Star, “Most of the dancers and celebs are more or less settled. But we’ll still see chemistry.

“It all happens on the dancefloor. After the first few weeks we’ll know who gets along.

“It does happen on the show when people get close to each other. We’ll be able to tell.”

Back now to Sid’s new relationship, he’s found romance again – having split from long term girlfriend Polly Parsons – with model Laura.

The Mirror spotted the new couple at the Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson Immortal show at London’s O2 arena this weekend, where he apparently ended up giving her a piggyback.

The paper adds, “The two kissed, held hands and were laughing and joking. But Sid was coy about calling 5ft 9ins Laura his new love.”

He told The People, “She isn’t my girlfriend. I wish! We have had a great night.”

An onlooker said, “Sid was having the time of his life with this girl in her 20s.

“He seemed really into her and was showing off his dance moves. They were laughing a lot then went to get food.

“They couldn’t stop kissing.

“Going to the taxi they were giggling and she jumped on his back before Sid whisked her away.”

Before his relationship with Laura was revealed, Sid had said, “I’m not really thinking about being single. I’m just throwing myself into the show.”

Sid’s dance partner Ola Jordan, told The People last week, “I hope he gets a nice girlfriend. I want to set him up with one of my Polish friends.”
