Ashley Taylor Dawson and his professional partner Ola Jordan Jived to the Rock ‘n’ Roll classic ‘Johnny B Goode’ by Chuck Berry on tonight’s show. Last week, Ashley’s crown was stolen by Patrick Robinson as the highest scoring male on the show – can he get it back this week?
Last week, Ashley said he was looking forward to the Viennese Waltz but on the night he stiffened up a little bit which left him feeling a tad deflated. This week is the Jive and he’s quickly realised there’s no way to hide from it. He’s determined to give the judges to OOMPH this week!
Last week, Ashley and Ola scored a total of 31 with Len Goodman telling them that it had “romance, elegance and there was style to it”. Craig said the only thing that bothered him was his “bizarrely stiff” arms.
When Ashley puts his brain into gear, he carries off some amazing performances and this week was a prime example. The Jive was very energetic and full of character, which is the type of dance that he excels with.
- Len Goodman: “It has speed, energy and plenty of oomph. You lost your technique here and there but brilliant performance”.
- Bruno Tonioli: “You have the feel absolutely right, you had the foot on the accelerator all the way through”.
- Craig Revel Horwood: “I’m glad nobody at home saw you recovering from your lee slide. You have to be aware that you have feet at the end of those legs but I did love it”.
- Darcey Bussell: “It wasn’t safe, it wasn’t placed, I loved the energy. You needed to point your feet a little more”.
Both Ashley & Ola received a combined score of 31 with a 7 from Craig Revel Horwood, an 8 from Darcey Bussell, an 8 from Len Goodman and an 8 from Bruno Tonioli.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:20pm on BBC One.
