Making Strictly Come Dancing headlines today are the reports that former contestant Denise Van Outen has hit back at critics of her comedy acting skills, and that this year’s winner Abbey Clancy has taken herself and her family off to Dubai for a well earned sunshine break.

But first, of what Denise has had to say, she told TV Biz that she’s hoping to try her hand at comedy acting again in 2014, however, it’s with some trepidation that she does as her last foray into sitcoms saw her being slated by critics.

She explained, “My 1998 sitcom Babes in the Wood only ran till 1999 after it was panned…

“Critics said I couldn’t act as I was a Big Breakfast host but some of it was funny.”

She added, “I’d really like to do a sort of Birds Of A Feather type thing.”

I remember Babes in the Wood, and I have to say, I enjoyed it! Do you remember it?

Right after she was crowned winner of this year’s Strictly, Abbey told the Express, “I just can’t wait to be with Sophia.

“She’s loved every second of Strictly, so I can’t wait to take the glitter ball home.

“She’s going to be over the moon. I want to spend time with my baby and then we start [the Strictly live tour] in the first week of January, so there won’t be much rest.

“I still don’t feel it’s real – it’s insane. I am in shock because it hasn’t hit me yet.”

She added, “Strictly has given me a new lease of life and made me so happy. Peter has been wonderful and so supportive from the get-go.”
