Strictly Come Dancing Natalie Gumede

This evening, after thirteen long weeks, Abbey Clancy was crowned the winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2013.

Unfortunately, the fabulous Natalie Gumede and Susanna Reid finished in runners up position after making it all the way to the final three.

It’s safe to say that all the finalists have had their ups and downs throughout the series. Natalie Gumede made the headlines before the show had even kicked off with reports that she is a professionally trained dancer. Turns out that wasn’t exactly true. Natalie has scored very highly throughout the series and became the second contestant to clinch that all important score of 40. She even went on to score another two 40s this evening, making it three in total.

Speaking to Tess Daly following the announcement that Abbey had won the show, Natalie said: “I think you can see from tonight, it has been so emotional and incredible. It has been the best experience of my life, and I appreciate everyone who has supported us”.

Strictly Come Dancing Susanna Reid

Susanna Reid on the other hand… where do I start? Who’d have thought that breakfast presenter and newsreader, Susanna Reid would be able to whip out her pinnies and dance like she has done over the past few weeks? She started off a little wobbly but over the last 3 or 4 weeks, she’s sent the bookies into a complete frenzy as she really was the dark horse of the series.

Also speaking to Tess on tonight’s show, Susanna said: “I’m going to miss it (the show) so much. The greatest prize for me was dancing with Kevin [Clifton] and I felt like a winner every day”.

But, that is it. Strictly Come Dancing is over for another year and I think it has been one of the closest finals we have ever had. We’ll see you next year when it all begins again.

Don’t forget, the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special airs on Christmas Day at 5pm on BBC One, and we’ll be here to cover it all.
