Strictly Come Dancing 2013 Halloween Week: Dave Myers fails to impress with his Monster mash Jive!

Strictly Come Dancing

Professional dad-dancer and his poor partner Karen Hauer took to the dance floor once again this week with a Jive set to Bobby Borris Picket’s ‘Monster Mash’ – it just screams disaster, doesn’t it?

Dave Myer’s big problem is that he can’t dance, and I’m not sure if that’s a problem that can be cleared up on Strictly. Last week, he was slated by the judges and only received a score of 17. His Samba was described as ‘unique’ – possibly because nobody would ever be seen dancing it like that again.

Dave, as usual, remained positive about last week’s performance, saying he thought it was brilliant, but with Halloween week upon us his biggest obstacle to overcome (apart from the lack of talent obviously) was the lack of scariness, bit will he be all ‘fright’ on the night with his Jive?

Luckily Dave’s music accompaniment meant that he could still dance with a smile on his face, but despite this the routine was still pretty scary.

Unfortunately the fact that everyone this week is using an eccentric and OTT performances to enhance the Halloween theme, makes us think that this may well be the week that Dave’s charms start to fail him, and his luck starts to run out!

Judges Comments

  • Len Goodman: “I think you excelled yourself really, last week your Salsa was scary, this one frightened the life out of me.  You were like a Cumberland sausage chasing the mustard.  But listen Dave Myer the Tryer – That is what I want to see!”
  • Bruno Tonioli: “I wish there was some Jive!  Listen, it was a soft shoe-shuffle mashed potatoes, and as such it was kind of funny but the Jive really was non-existent.  I have to be truthful.”
  • Craig Revel Horwood: “It was a little bit like the weather today I am afraid, overcast, cloudy grey and a little bit dismal.”
  • Darcey Bussell: “Dave, I know you tried really hard and you focus and rally try and put your mind to it, but it is a little bit too sweet for me, and the things that i really need from a Jive is no flat feet, which you had all the way through.”

Both Dave & Karen received a combined score of 19 with a 4 from Craig Revel Horwood, a 5 from Darcey Bussell, a 6 from Len Goodlam and a 4 from Bruno Tonioli.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:20pm in which another couple will be given the boot.
