This evening, professional Golfer Tony Jacklin and his partner Aliona Vilani took to the dance floor for the first time, but was it a hit or miss?
Tony and Aliona performed the waltz to What’ll I Do? by Alison Krauss but it was branded as a complete disaster!
“I used to like wearing bright clothes on the golf course. More sparkle, the better as far as I’m concerned,” he said in his VT.
“He definitely has a natural swing in his hips, but he has a lot of work to do. Tony is a fighter, he’s struggling but he isn’t giving up” Aliona said.
Tony has been having a few troubles in rehearsals which haven’t been going too well for him as of late. He blamed the problem on not having the correct footwear, but he had the correct shoes tonight and well… it still didn’t go well! The performance was like something out of Disney… Beauty and the beast?
Bruno Tonioli told the pair: “The Waltz… sentimental and romantic. I didn’t see much of that. There was a tiny little moment but it was like a second! You couldn’t move, but I think it’s because of nerves”.
Darcey Bussell added: “I know what it’s like when nerves get hold of you, the first dance is terrifying. You get those nerves out and you come back the confident, competitive Tony we know”.
“You Tony are the spirit of this show. You have no dance experience and you came out and had a go. I say well done!” Len Goodman told him.
Craig Revel Horwood added: “When you finally got in hold you became the hunchback of Notre Dame. It was littered with faults and mistakes. It was a bit of a disaster I’d say”.
Tony & Aliona received a combined score of 16 with a 4 from Bruno, a 5 from Darcey, a 5 from Len Goodman and a 2 from Craig Revel Horwood.
Speaking about his first live dance of the series, Tony said: “I feel about a hot as I do in Florida. It’s fun, it’s an adventure”.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7pm with the second live show of the series on BBC One/HD.
