Strictly Come Dancing: Standing ovation and high praise for Ben Cohen & Kristina Rihanoff (VIDEO)

Strictly Come Dancing

This evening on Strictly Come Dancing, rugby player Ben Cohen and his professional partner Kristina Rihanoff took to the dance floor for love week. In his VT Ben describes love for him as family, and he talks about how much he’s missing his family since he’s working so hard on Strictly Come Dancing at the moment.

The pair danced the Rumba to Adele’s Make You Feel My Love. At first, it looked like Kristina’s racy dress was going to steal the show on this routine, but  the pair danced beautifully together, with Ben wearing a tuxedo and an open bow tie. The routine felt tragically short, and I could have watched at least another minute. The audience were on their feet for the second standing ovation of the evening. Beautiful work. This is sure to score highly with the judges.

Last week, Ben and Kristina scored a total of 25 points. However, he has had quite a bit of stick about his rear end. Craig said as great at it is, he needs to tuck it under a little. Not only that, the wardrobe department on the show has had a little trouble finding ben trousers that fit right…

Judges Comments

  • Craig Revel Horwood: “I want to love you too my darling. I’m willing you to do well and dance well and you know what? You did.”
  • Darcey Bussell: “I wanted to see connection and you gave it to me. You created a true intensity in that dance. There was no nerves…and even a little hip rotation. I wanna see it next week as well.”
  • Len Goodman: “It’s nice to see a big butch bloke being gentle. I thought you needed a bit more hips, but I thought you showed your feminine side beautifully.”
  • Bruno Tonioli: “That was really a touchy feely kind of love. It was like watching a series of erotic friezes.”

Both Ben and Kristina received a combined score of 28 with a 7 from Craig Revel Horwood, a 7 from Darcey Bussell, a 7 from Len Goodman and a 7 from Bunro Tonioli.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:20pm on BBC One.

When I heard Ben was doing a rhumba earlier in the week, I thought he was going to get slaughtered by the judges, as it’s a notoriously difficult dance. He coped with it much better than I was expecting, though, I was pleasantly surprised.
