This evening, Patrick Robinson and his professional partner Anya Garnis took on the Charleston to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
In his VT this week, Patrick said he loved doing the viennese waltz but last week wasn’t too good as the judges are getting stricter – and of course, we’re only 4 weeks away from the final. “We’re going to have to do something really special to stay in the competition,” Patrick added. Hopefully, the Charleston will let them “fly through to next week”.
Last week, both Patrick and Anya received a score of 32 from the judges after his “ugly” ending ruined the dance. Darcey said it was a shame he didn’t look comfortable last week and Bruno added that he “crash landed” at the end of his dance.
Now, you can’t dance Chitty Chitty Bang Bang without entering the stage on a flying car. The Charleston had the right elements in terns of the speed, enthusiasm and lifts, but it’s not the best Charleston I’ve seen on the show so far. Although, those heel kicks were brilliant…
- Craig Revel Horwood: “I absolutely loved the first roll-over lift and the nature of that Charleston. It was full of character and it was extremely fast but that made you a little flat-footed. You lost a bit of stability in that last lift but the whole routine was spectacular.
- Darcey Bussell: “It was fast, wild and such difficult timing but you hit the nail on the head”.
- Len Goodman: “I’ll tell you what that was, it was full of flash, bang wallop. It was a show stopper and it was fantastic”.
- Bruno Tonioli: “Talk about va va voom! You won it!”
Patrick & Anya received a combined score of 38 with an 8 from Craig, a 10 from Darcey, a 10 from Len and a 10 from Bruno.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:20pm with the all important results show.
