Modest BBC Breakfast presenter Susanna Reid has revealed that she isn’t entirely sure how she’s managed to stay in the running so far on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, insisting that she doesn’t have innate dance skills and is instead, “Just enthusiastic.”
However, her fellow contestant Rachel Riley doesn’t worry about her ability on the dance floor, and instead she “just goes for it!”
We’ll have more on that in a moment, but first, as to what Susanna had to say about still being in the competition on Strictly, she told Woman & Home magazine, “I love dancing and moving to music…
“Sadly I don’t move like a dancer, I’m just enthusiastic.”
However, she confessed, “My Strictly struggle is learning the steps. I’ve got the memory of a goldfish.”
But Susanna went on to reveal that she adopts a novel technique to banish her nerves.
She explained, “I’ve taught myself a technique where I visualise my nerves as a physical object and picture myself wrapping it up, putting it in a box and leaving it at the studio door.
“It sounds mad, but it works.”
On now to what Rachel had to say – also to Woman & Home – and she revealed that one of the happiest experiences of dance that she’s ever had was on her wedding day. She of course married Jamie Gilbert last year.
The Countdown star said, “I kicked off my shoes after our first dance and went for it!”
She added, “Dancing is like dessert: you think you’ve had enough, but you always find a way to manage more.”
You can read the full interview in the December issue of Woman & Home, which is on sale now.
But for now, here’s a reminder of Susanna’s performance on Strictly last weekend…
