The amazing Susanna Reid and her professional partner Kevin Clifton took to the strictly ballroom this evening to Cha Cha Cha to the classic Hound Dog by Smokey Joe’s Café.
In her VT she said that she doesn’t think she’ll ever have a moment as big as last week at Blackpool and getting 39 points was “like an outer-body experience”. “You have to nail the Cha Cha walks,” Kevin explained. In a bid to perfect her walk, Kevin took Susanna to a gymnastics school and made her walk the beam!
Last week, Susanna Reid became the first contestant of the year to achieve 39 points – which was also subsequently the highest score of the series so far. Craig said that their Waltz was “absolutely Fab-U-Lous” whilst Bruno said she was a “temptress”.
Susanna looked stunning in a gold little number the evening and her dancing was on point as well. The Cha Cha was fast paced, full of energy and very punchy!
- Craig Revel Horwood: “Well, I really like the bumpy beginning, that got off to a great start. Timing was very, very good but for me it did not pop and it did not since. You have to think about extending your body. I see you were trying to straighten your legs, but for me it was all a little mummy”.
- Darcey Bussell: “The boys are right, it’s just about getting a quicker straighter leg – the dance wasn’t yours tonight. It’s a shame the glamour of Blackpool is over and we have to get picky”.
- Len Goodman: “We’re getting down to the nitty-gritty now and the standard is high, things that we have overlooked a bit we’re going to be really picking up on now… having said that, that’s what I’m looking for. The timing was good, your problem in this dance was your leg action and because of that you lost hip action. It was acceptable, it was exceptional but it was good enough”.
- Bruno Tonioli: “Susanna, you house trained a puppy so well. I didn’t elect anything less from you – you sell, your performances fly off the shelves like mince pies at Christmas. Len was right, there’s a distinctive hip action int he Cha Cha and it wasn’t as pronounced as it should have been”.
Susanna & Kevin received a combined score of 31 with a 7 from Craig, an 8 from Darcey, an 8 from Len and an 8 from Bruno.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:20pm with the all important results show.
