Strictly Come Dancing 2016: Ed Balls totes emosh over his exit, but playing hardball over Tour?

by Lynn Rowlands

Last night, BBC viewers saw Ed Balls being voted off Strictly Come Dancing, much to the chagrin of his fans.

On Twitter, one disappointed Strictly viewer wrote, “Ed Balls was one of the most improved dancers and the fact the judges clearly didn’t like him it feels like #Strictly is fixed.”

However, another tweeted, “Ed Balls out of #Strictly, Honey G from #XFactor. So much justice in one night. If only we could stretch this to politics & vote Trump out.”

Well you’ll get no argument from me on that Twitter user mentioned above.

But of course, Ed wasn’t overly happy to be out, though he was gushing in his praise of everyone connected with Strictly.

On Twitter, he wrote, “I’ve had the most fabulous three months on Strictly and this week was definitely the right time for me to go. Thank-you all at @bbcstrictly.”

He added, “To all the BBC producers and back-room staff, the wardrobe, hair and make-up experts and the wonderful band and singers, thank-you…

“My fellow @bbcstrictly contestants have been such a close-knit and supportive group.

“Friendships for life have been made. Thank-you.”

However, the big question now is whether Ed will add his name to the stars already confirmed for next year’s Strictly Come Dancing tour…

And according to The Sun’s TV Biz, Ed is playing hard to get in a bid to (perhaps) encourage Aunty Beeb to add a few zeros to his cheque.

An unnamed Strictly Come Dancing insider is quoted as saying, “Ed wants to be on the tour and is currently negotiating his price.”

The article adds, “Bosses have been desperate to add him to the bill due to his huge Saturday night ratings hit and are willing to pay him thousands extra to sell out the venues.”

But before the tour gets underway, we have not only this year’s Strictly Come Dancing finale to look forward to in December, but there’s the annual Strictly Christmas special too.

Check out the first teaser for that festive show…

We can’t wait for that!
