Ed Balls somehow managed to make it pretty far into this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing before finally being eliminated a couple of weeks ago. If there’s one thing we’ll say about Ed Balls, it’s that he was thoroughly entertaining every week. He was a pretty poor dancer and he consistently ended up down to the bottom of the leaderboard, but the public picked up their phones and voted for him anyway.
Thanks to fans keeping him in the competition, we got to see the absolute bizarre delight that was his ‘Gangnam Style’ performance. If there’s one performance we’ll always remember Ed doing, it’s that one, and it has become his performance now.
So much so, his dance partner, Katya Jones has confirmed that Ed Balls WILL be returning for the Strictly Come Dancing final next weekend where he will perform his Gangnam Style routine once again.
“We are coming back and we’ll be doing Gangnam. That’s become our trademark. Ed is quite excited about coming back,” she said.
Katya went on to add: “I didn’t have to convince him much when we first did that routine. As soon as I mentioned it, he was like ‘yeah… let’s do this’. We knew we had to make an impact. People were looking forward to our routines every week so we just had fun with it”.
Four couples remain in the competition, but only three of them will make it through to the finale next weekend.
Following last night’s live semi-final show, Ore Oduba and Joanne Clifton are at the top of the leaderboard with a combined total of 77 points after scoring 38 in their first routine, and 39 in their second routine.
Fan favourite Danny Mac and his partner, Oti Mabuse are in second place, just one point behind Ore and Joanne. Danny managed to score 37 in his first routine and 39 in his second routine.
Louise Redknapp and Kevin Clifton, along with Claudia Fragapane and her partner AJ are joint third on the leaderboard with 73 points each.
