Mark Benton and his professional partner Iveta Lukosiute took to the dance floor once again this week and performed the Paso Doble to Sarah Brightman’s ‘I Lost my Heart to a Starship Trooper’. Mark has promised that he has an extra surprise for this week’s dance… ooh!

Last week, Mark and Iveta scored an acceptable 28 points, in which Craig said it was “so much better than that ghastly” MC Hammer dance.
This week their routine ia all about Alien vs Matador  as Mark and Iveta return to their more comedic routines, bringing something that Mark describes as outlandish and fun to the Strictly Halloween party.

In order to help them prepare Mark and Iveta went along to the theatre to see how the flying monkey’s perform and fly in Wicked, something that Mark is hoping to achieve on the night as he is lowered on to the dance floor via a spaceship and a cable!

In a Paso like we have never seen before mark managed to entertain everyone, whilst asserting his manly aggressive side, before plunging in to some more hilarious MC-Hammer-ish side by side moves – A guaranteed point scorer if ever we saw one, proved by the standing ovation he got before it had even finished!

Judges Comments

  • Len Goodman: “Euston we have a problem here – It was long on performance and short on technique.”
  • Bruno Tonioli: “It was Astro Dave doing the disco Doble.  More space cadet than matador, fun but not quite the right content I think.  I loved it, bit it’s not really a Paso.”
  • Craig Revel Horwood: “The Paso element I thought was a little bit heavy a little bit stompy and a little bit shapeless but your isolation is very very good and your rhythm, as always, is fantastic.  Where the disco reference lies in the Paso, I have no clue, but I didn’t mind it!”
  • Darcey Bussell: “The entertainment and the conviction and the attack is all there.  To help with the shaping especially in those arms when they get a bit flat, try curving them, especially from the elbow, then it will be more convincing.”

Both Mark & Iveta received a combined score of 25 with a 6 from Craig Revel Horwood, a 6 from Darcey Bussell, a 7 from Len Goodlam and a 6 from Bruno Tonioli.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:20pm in which another couple will be given the boot.
