This evening, Ashley Taylor Dawson and his professional partner Ola Jordan performed the Viennese Waltz to Sarah McLachlan’s emotional ‘Angel’. After scoring the highest amount of points out of the male celebs last week, Ashley had a lot to live up to tonight.
In his VT this evening, Ashley said he was really excited about the Samba last week as it was a fast routine and he was very happy with the comments. “I love the fact I’m on Strictly Come Dancing and I just want to improve”. In order to inspire Ashley, Ola took Ashley to a cinema to watch some classics… well, classic scenes of Ashley in Hollyoaks.
Last week, Ashley and Ola scored a total of 31 with Craig Revel Horwood telling him his hip rolls were “absolute filth”. Darcey added that he had to do up the shirt this week so that she wouldn’t be too distracted.
The dance started with the camera panning through a pair of iron gates – it had a very wedding-esque feel to it. I have to say, the pair managed to pull off the elegant, romantic side of the dance and the music really gave it that extra effect and feel.
- Len Goodman: “It had romance, elegance and there was a style to it. You’ve worked on your footwork, a little wofty on some occasions, but for me you get a bit stiff”.
- Bruno Tonioli: “I didn’t mind the wofting at all… the casual flick of the wrist…it was tender and romantic. You need more oomph”.
- Craig Revel Horwood: “The only thing that bothered me was your arms were out of hold and they seemed unnatural to me. They were bizarrely stiff”.
- Darcey Bussell: “The dance is faster than a waltz, it has many turns, it’s smooth and romantic. It was a little too safe and placed for me. Next time I want you to push it and go for it. Drive through”.
Both Ashley & Ola received a combined score of 10 with a 31 from Craig Revel Horwood, an 8 from Darcey Bussell, an 8 from Len Goodman and an 8 from Bruno Tonioli.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:15pm on BBC One.
